Learning on Country Northern Australia Summit

The inaugural Learning on Country Northern Australia Summit was held on Larrakia Country in Darwin on 1-2 September 2025, bringing together more than 100 delegates from across the Northern Australia, including Elders, Rangers, educators, researchers, government representatives, and community leaders.

Over two days, the Summit celebrated the strength and impact of the Learning on Country Program, which connects culture and curriculum to create meaningful pathways for young people from school to employment, while maintaining strong ties to Country.

A major outcome of the Summit was the development of a Unity Statement, which is a shared commitment capturing the collective vision for the future of Learning on Country and similar ‘two-way’ Indigenous education models.
